Rooting into Your Relationships

We are one week into our New Moon cycle symbolized by the challenges we all face on this journey of evolution and growth.

As we encounter obstacles, upheavals, and perceived problems, we naturally resist the discomfort they bring.

The caveat of this natural response brings me to the Carl Jung quote,

“What you resist not only persists but will grow in size.”

The more we push against and react to the challenge, the less we are able to see a solution.

The inability to see a solution brings powerlessness, and the experience gets worse.

The antidote here is not to avoid a reaction. It is absolutely okay to react.

Your role is to honor the reaction (no matter how many times it occurs), then shorten the reaction by remembering your values.

For example, I’ve been using this process through my own personal journey with grief over these past couple of weeks.

My beloved cat of 14 years, Pumpkin, was tragically attacked by a loose dog who came into our backyard.

I held him in my arms and supported him as he took his final breaths.

As you may imagine, the trauma of the experience is immense.

The grief, powerlessness, anger, and sadness I’ve felt have been overwhelming at times.

Yet, I have a high value placed on my meditation practice, well-being, and community.

And even though the meditations bring up the traumatic memories, I know that resisting them will only make them persist.

Through my meditation practice, the concepts of acceptance & commitment therapy (ACT), and the foundations of my relationships, I have slowly been evolving through this process.

So, if you are feeling challenged by life, know that you are not alone.

Your resistance to the discomfort will only increase the difficulty, and it’s important to cultivate foundational values.

In astrology, Jupiter & Venus are in what’s called a “sign exchange” in Taurus & Sagittarius.

It’s almost like they are house-sitting for each other, and this tends to help them express their energy in a more beneficial way.

Jupiter & Venus help us build relationships and this energy will continue the entire month of November.

This means that it is the perfect time for you to:

Get rooted in your relationships.

Build a foundation of support through friends, family, and your community.

Reach out to people you love who are hurting and acknowledge their pain.

Initiate or host a gathering and connect with others.

We have more in common than the differences that separate us.

Be courageous. Be brave. Open your heart and LOVE.

And please keep your dogs leashed and contained.
